Pitcher
Mike Montgomery (L), Mariners
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp | FIP | K% | GB% | Opp Run Total | Moneyline |
$7,600 | $7600 | @ A's | 3.02 | 17.0% | 44.5% | n/a - 3.5? | n/a |
Montgomery's strikeout rate looks unimpressive in the table above. However, he has really picked up steam over his last two starts, pitching two complete game shutouts with a total of 17 K's against Kansas City and San Diego respective. Now, he'll take on a spotty Oakland lineup in a pitcher friendly ballpark. His price tag is likely still in ascension, and you'll want to grab a piece before he's too costly.
Catcher
Evan Gattis (R), Astros
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs LHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs LHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs LHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$3,300 | $4200 | E. Rodriguez - L | .331 | .217 | 111 | 3 | 4 |
Gattis against a young, inconsistent pitcher in Fenway Park seems like a fair enough matchup. As you can see in the numbers above, Gattis crushes lefties, and Boston's Fenway Park is an ideal situation. He and the other Houston RHB are in play (Altuve, Carter).
First Base
Jose Abreu (R), White Sox
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs RHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs RHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$3,700 | $5000 | M. Gonzalez - R | .384 | .286 | 153 | 3 | 4 |
Baltimore pitcher Miguel Gonzalez is extremely homerun prone, holding a 1.65 HR/9 rate over the past three seasons. That's great news for Jose Abreu, especially considering the hitter-friendly conditions of Chicago's U.S. Cellular Park. Don't forget about his teammates Adam LaRoche and Adam Eaton either.
Second Base
Kolton Wong (L), Cardinals
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs RHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs RHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$3000 | $3900 | Kennedy - R | .308 | .150 | 74 | 1? 6? | 4 |
First thing's first, you may want to pay attention to the batting order before clicking in Wong. He hit 6th yesterday, which I'm not sure will carry over today or not. Truth be told, Wong has been in a mini-slump, which likely explains his recent designation. Still, he has plenty of extra-base hit upside, especially in a quality matchup against Ian Kennedy (.336 wOBA vs LHB). His price has come down as well.
Third Base
Matt Carpenter (L), Cardinals
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs RHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs RHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$3200 | $3900 | Kennedy - R | .308 | .150 | 137 | 2 | 4 |
Speaking of quality matchups against Ian Kenndey: Hi, Matt Carpenter! The Cardinal third baseman is starting to turn things around with 5 hits over the past three games. Frankly, we weren't ever really concerned about his hitting ability at the moment - as he has the potential to go off in any game. This certainly looks like one of them, and the price tag is agreeable.
Shortstop
Erick Aybar (S), Angels
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs RHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs RHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$2700 | $3600 | Lewis - R | .299 | .090 | 97 | 5 | 4.5 |
Aybar has been a monster so far this series, going 8-9 in the first two games. His price tag has bumped up a little bit, but not enough to land him out of consideration. He'll have another great matchup in Arlington, taking on Colby Lewis and his .358 wOBA split vs LHB.
Outfield
Mike Trout (R), Angels | |||||||
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs RHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs RHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$5000 | $5300 | Lewis - R | .413 | .269 | 175 | 3 | 4.5 |
Even though Colby Lewis' major susceptibility lies against left-handed bats, that isn't enough to steer me away from Mr. Trout. The price point is expensive, but you can easily squeeze him in with the aforementioned names in this article. The Angels project as one of the highest scoring teams of the day.
Kole Calhoun (L), Angels
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs RHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs RHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$2,400 | $4100 | Lewis - R | .333 | .170 | 124 | 2 | 4.5 |
Take everything I said about Erick Aybar, and throw in a better lineup positoin and salary (plus homerun upside). That's what you are getting in Kole Calhoun, who is the closest thing to a lock at this cheap price point (on FanDuel).
Denard Span (L), Nationals
FanDuel | DraftKings | Opp Pitcher & Handedness | wOBA vs RHP 2012-2015 | ISO vs RHP 2012-2015 | wRC+ vs RHP 2012-2015 | Batting Order | Team Run Total |
$3400 | $4500 | Vogelsong - R | .352 | .130 | 114 | 1 | 4 |
Denard Span is always an excellent cash game option, and that esepecially holds true against Ryan Vogelsong and his .344 wOBA splits vs left-handed hitters. Span has reasonable ability to collect multiple hits, runs, and stolen bases.
