What a freaking week in the baseball world. Trades, Brandon Phillips, scratched Kershaw's, we have the works in this week's recap. The end of July hit, and we are two months away from starting to ween ourselves off MLB DFS in the playoffs. End of July also means our monthly dong report.

July Dong Breakdown

There were 739 dongs hit in the month of July, just short of June, but you have to factor in the all-star break. The Tigers and Mariners tied for the most dongs this month, tallying 37 long balls. The A's and Marlins finished dead last, with 15, and clearly the Marlins are missing Giancarlo Stanton. Mike Trout finished this month's dong leader, with 12, and Carlos Gonzalez was a dong short, with 11. Maybe the highlight of the month was Alex Rodriguez going yard three times in the game against the Twins, although both Trout and Gonzalez both had multi-homer games. The longest dong of July goes to Trout, homering off Chris Rusin in Coors, for 471 feet. There were a few inside the park dongs this month, both Jarrod Dyson and Ryan Rua hit one each.

Hug Watch

This was a pretty epic trade deadline, Carlos Gomez went to the Mets, Astros. No more Coors Field for Troy Tulowitzki, but Rogers Centre is not bad. The Jays did by far the most damage, landing David Price and Ben Revere. Yoenis Cespedes to the Mets, Gerardo Parra to the Orioles, Brandon Moss to the Cardinals, Scott Kazmir to the A's, Mat Latos & Alex Wood to the Dodgers, and Dan Haren to the Cubs. Oh yeah, Mike Fiers to the Astros too. It was a stressful week for DFS players, possibly watching for hugs in the dugout, and starters being pulled early.

What's Hip This Week?

Clayton Kershaw caused worldwide panic this week, with a hip injury that caused him to be pushed back twice. It clearly was an issue for Kershaw against the Angels. The breaking ball just did not have the bite it usually does. I mean Trout barely even buckled on this pitch. He was lucky to keep his scoreless innings streak alive, and who knows if he will catch Greinke if he keeps pitching like this.

That Dude BP

Brandon Phillips put up a monster game, that rivals a few of the other big game DFS scores this season. He went 4-5, two homers, two stolen bases, and seven RBI. He totaled 22.75 FanDuel points, and 54 DraftKings points. Phillips has actually been a decent play at times, but overall he has been nothing more than a GPP play most nights. If you rostered him. *slow clap*

Cy Danks

John Danks has been a poster boy for who to stack against. He has a 4.80 ERA, and is allowing a .350 wOBA on the season. Danks also pitches in a very homer friendly stadium. Needless to say, we attack him every time he is on the hill. But... Every now and then Cy Danks shows up. Lets take a look at his last handful of starts. 1 ER, 6 ER, 0 ER, 0 ER, 6 ER, 0 ER, 5 ER. Put a quarter in and see what you win. The only other explanation is Adam LaRoche has filled in on the days he has good starts.
