The purpose of this column is to highlight some players with upside and well-suited for tournaments. While the majority of the hitter picks will likely have power upside, that's not necessarily the case for all the listed options. Other contextual factors such as batting order, ballpark, opposing pitcher, price, speed, etc also come into play, and you'll see these items sprinkled into the write-ups below. Along with that, we'll be gauging the ownership levels, giving you some plausible pivots from the popular choices in a given game slate.

With such a small slate of pitchers to choose from, I decided to go with simply the most talented one, Julio Teheran. Teheran has been roughed up a little this season, but looked sharp in his last start. Today he faces a mediocre Angels team, that should be without their best player, Mike Trout, due to a thumb injury that forced him to exit Sunday's game against the Marlins in the 6th inning. It's also worth noting that he Angels will be traveling all the way from Miami, so they could be a little sluggish. The majority of people will be on Stroman, but I will be all over Teheran.

Jason Hammel has been terrible against right-handers this season. His 0.419 wOBA against right-handers makes you think DET can be a top stack tonight. J.D. Martinez is battling injury, which takes the wind out of the sails on the idea of stacking if he site. I really like Miggy as a one-off here. The ball park isn't ideal, but Miggy has plenty of power to make up for it. On such a small slate, it's important to nail your one-off's. Miggy is who i want here.

This is a great chance for Giancarlo Stanton to put up some crooked numbers on the scoreboard. Jeremy Hellickson has been below average against right-handed hitters this year, allowing a 0.363 wOBA to them. Hellickson is also terrible at missing bats. In 54.2 innings this year, Hellickson only has 22 K's. This is great news for Stanton. He won't have to worry about striking out, and can just load up on Hellickson's pitches. I really like Stanton to go yard here.

I usually don't go crazy with stacking against Erasmo Ramirez, but one-off's are always a great way to attack him. He doesn't miss many bats, and gives up a ton of hard contact to opposing left-handed hitters. This spot screams Joey Gallo. Gallo has been swinging a hot stick all year. His average is very low, but his double HR upside is hard to ignore at this price. I absolutely love Gallo in GPP's tonight.

The punt of all punt plays on this slate. Brandon Phillips exited Sunday's game with a knee injury. I expect the Braves to give him the night off here tonight. Peterson would be the next guy in line to start this game, and Nolasco has proved that he's vulnerable to the long ball. Peterson should allow you to get whoever you want with the rest of your team, and has enough pop to get you an XBH here. GPP-play only, but worth a risk if you like your lineup and need the salary savings.
