2016 Atlanta Falcons Outlook

The Falcons were one of the more high-upside fantasy offenses in the league last year, and make it no secret of who their main contributors in the offense. With all of them back other than Roddy White, we should see some similar usage in 2016. They were seventh in the NFL in plays run, eighth in pass attempts and 17th in rushing attempts.

Matt Ryan threw 614 passing attempts in 2015, and simply didn't produce like we're accustomed to in a fantasy perspective. He did throw for 4591 yards, but only threw 21 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. With Tony Gonzalez a few years retired and Roddy White a shell of his former self, their simply wasn't much for Matt Ryan to work with beyond Julio Jones. With the Addition of Mohamed Sanu, he should at a little burst and explosion to otherwise lackluster secondary receiving options. Roddy White and Leonard Hankerson combined for 116 targets for the season, and those are roles that will absolutely need to be filled.

Devonta Freeman was fantastic in 2015. In his 338 touches, he produced 14 total touchdowns and 1634 yards from scrimmage. If you played fantasy football then you know the story. Tevin Coleman won the starting job out of training camp, and then an early season injury vaulted Freeman into the spotlight where he took off. While reports out of the Atlanta are that the team wants to split carries more evenly this year, it's fair to assumed Freeman has secured the 1A role in the potential running back committee.

Not much of a secret for receiving options. Julio Jones is and was one of the best wide receivers in the NFL in the 2015. His 203 targets is likely going to be tough to replicate, but at the same time, expecting above 160 is still very reasonable. Justin Hardy is heading into his second season, but he only got 36 targets in 2015, and with Sanu coming in, it will be tough for his role to increase too much.

Jacob Tamme had a pretty solid 2015, with 59 receptions for 657 yards are 81 targets. The Falcons drafted Stanford tight end Austin Hooper in the third round of the draft, and while he wont make a huge impact in year one, he should steal some targets.
